Hey everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying the weather. As it is getting colder it only starts to feel more like I am at home. Recently I have been trying to learn as much as I can about Shogi. Back in america, I would occasionally play chess with my brother and some of my friends. I am not very good at it, but I still enjoy playing the game and thinking of strategies. Now that I am in Japan I think it is a good opportunity to try and learn Shogi. I have been looking up the rules and trying to learn basic strategy to start playing. I have an app on my phone that I often use to practice playing Shogi. I am interested in all of the different rules in comparison to the chess that I grew up with. At first they seem like small changes, but it completely changes the way I think about each game. I am still trying to understand the game to the best of my ability, and I hope I can get a lot of practice in while I am in Japan. I plan on going to the Shogi club at Hiroshima university every week to meet fun and new people as well as practice Shogi. Do you guys enjoy Shogi? Feel free to talk to me about if you want to discuss it and I hope to see everyone soon!
