Hello, everyone! Emil here again!
Time flies so fast and before we realize it, 2017 is already coming to an end! I really had a lot of experiences this year that I will treasure. Last week, I had participated in Sweeties' Bounenkai - it was refreshing to be able to celebrate, be merry, and imbibe alcohol with customers and fellow speakers alike. I almost knew everybody, and I was fortunate to meet and interact with 2 more people whom I haven't met yet.
It was a really fun night! I remember Mr. S doing his rakugo performance; it was a humorous story about a someone who took a precarious job as a replacement tiger in a zoo that had everyone laughing. Moreover, Mr. K also graced us with his spontaneous rendition of Aladdin's A Whole New World, and it was a wonderful performance! I actually enjoyed singing along with the lyrics while he was also performing. Nonetheless, everybody had a good time!
It wasn't soon before long that we decided to go home, but four of us still decided to do a little bit of bar-hopping and to drink more - because we weren't drunk yet (which is a lie!).
Even though I have been staying in Saijo for more than a year already, I am a bit ashamed to admit that I had no idea about the backstreets near the station! It was my first time to walk along and experience streets that were filled with drinking pubs and establishments! It actually reminded me of Manila in my home country. It had the same ambience - you could see some rowdy (and most likely drunk) adolescents who were walking home or doing some drunken ramblings. It felt nostalgic!
It just goes to show that there is still more to explore in Saijo! And I have to say that I am lucky indeed to be living in this town as it is one of Japan's Sake Capitals (as I love drinking sake a lot!).
Anyway, that's all I have to say for now. I look forward to doing more English conversations with you guys in the Sweeties' Cafe.
Enjoy the holidays and have a Happy New Year! Cheers to 2017 and may 2018 be even better!
